Dhok Sultan-03 Delivers Another Exploration Success for GHPL and Partners in a Complex Fractured Carbonate Play

Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) is pleased to announce a significant oil and gas discovery at Dhok Sultan-03 in the Dhok Sultan Exploration Licence, located in District Attock, Punjab. The discovery marks the second hydrocarbon discovery in the block, where Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) operates with a 75% working interest and GHPL holds a 25% working interest.

The Dhok Sultan-03 well spudded on June 18, 2025 and drilled to a depth of 5,815 metres encountered virgin reservoir pressure in the naturally fractured Patala-Lockhart carbonate reservoirs and successfully tested at maximum rates of up to 2,113 barrels of oil per day (bopd) and 4.13 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscfd), confirming the block’s significant hydrocarbon potential. The well is currently under production under EWT.

Ranked among the deepest oil discoveries in Pakistan, Dhok Sultan-03 stands as a testament to the untapped potential of the Dhok Sultan acreage and the technical excellence of its joint venture partners. The discovery further demonstrates GHPL’s unwavering commitment to pursuing high-impact exploration opportunities that enhance indigenous energy resources and create long-term, sustainable value.
