Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) is pleased to announce another gas discovery at the Sahito-1 exploratory well in the Khewari Exploration Licence, District Khairpur, Sindh. The licence is operated by Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) with a 95% working interest, while GHPL holds a 5% carried interest.

Spudded on 24 December 2025, Sahito-1 was drilled to a total depth of 3,870 meters TVD to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of the Lower Goru Formation (Massive Sand). Based on wireline log interpretations, two Drill Stem Tests (DSTs) were conducted, with DST-2 successfully confirming a commercial gas discovery.

The well tested at a rate of approximately 17.2 MMSCFD of gas through a 32/64-inch choke at a wellhead flowing pressure of 3,390 psi, demonstrating the promising productivity of the Lower Goru reservoir.

This discovery marks another important milestone in Pakistan’s exploration sector, enhances the prospectivity of the Khewari acreage, and contributes to strengthening the country’s indigenous energy resources.
