Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) is pleased to announce a significant exploration success with the discovery of gas and condensate at the Bitrism East-1 exploratory well in the Bitrism Exploration Licence, District Khairpur, Sindh Province. The licence is operated by Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) with a 95% working interest, while GHPL holds a 5% working interest.

Spudded on 30 June 2025, the well was drilled to a depth of 3,800 meters in the Sembar Formation. Based on wireline log interpretations, two Drill Stem Tests (DSTs) were successfully conducted in the Lower Goru Formation’s Massive and Basal Sand reservoirs, both of which confirmed significant hydrocarbon potential.

The well demonstrated a combined production potential of approximately 22.5 MMSCFD of gas and 690 barrels of condensate per day (BCD) through a 32/64-inch choke, underscoring the productivity of the Lower Goru reservoirs and the prospectivity of the Bitrism acreage.

This discovery represents another important milestone in the Bitrism Exploration Licence, strengthening Pakistan’s indigenous hydrocarbon resource base and contributing towards bridging the country’s energy supply-demand gap.
